Be Your Own Sunshine !!!

Do you have problems in life? If your answer is NO you are blessed. If your answer is yes, still you are blessed. Because problems make our life meaningful, colorful and a roller coaster ride.

Life is too short to concentrate on problems and be tensed about them beyond an extent. Rather try to work on solving the problem. There’s no problem in the world that cannot be solved. The only thing we need to know is how to solve the problem.

I have said this before too, lockdown has helped me a lot in personal aspects. I have seen life from a different perspective. My ways of handling life have changed drastically. Now I don’t get tensed on anything, I am much calmer than I was a year back. My optimism is at a different level now. If I look at myself today and compare myself with the personality I was a year back I am happy, at peace, calm and composed at present. I am in a much better space mentally.

I have learnt one thing, that your career, your finances, your relationships, your responsibilities and rest all other things lie secondary. The primary and the most important thing is you. The only person who will be with you every second of your life from birth to death is you, your own self. And we make the biggest mistake of keeping ourselves secondary or even maybe at the end of our priority list at times. How unfair it is to not look after the body that serves us the whole life. The body which is always doing its best to help us achieve what we want. Don’t we owe our physical as well as mental health a lot more attention?

Recently I read the book ‘Women and the Weight Loss Tamasha’ by Rujuta Diwekar. It’s an awesome book. In fact, every woman must read it. The book taught me one thing which is to thank my body for everything. How many times have we thanked our body for being the pillar of our existence?. If you ask me  I have never before reading this book, but now that’s the first thing I do daily without fail. Our body definitely needs applause, it makes us stay strong at it’s best capacity and is so loyal that no matter how we treat it in order to fulfill the pressures like losing weight, looking pretty, the busy schedules, not eating or sleeping on time, fulfilling cravings and all that crap. But now I respect, adore and take care of my body. Well, it’s a completely different story on what others feel is not important, but just saying it’s like if I look at the mirror and point out 100 defects in my body then how can I expect someone else to compliment me?

You may have an amazing career or you may not. You may be a billionaire or maybe a middle- class person happy with the simple life. You may have amazing relationships, you may not. Life is uncertain so why not concentrate on something that’s certain and that’s your body. And equally important is your mental health. We all must know one thing that our mind definitely is not worth of crap. Think about things that are really important and matters to you. If you do not take care of your mental health you end up being a messy person. Well if you are mentally healthy you automatically have an emotional balance. Mentally healthy does not mean you should not cry or worry or be tense at all. These are human emotions and no one can escape them. It’s like a rainbow in your life. But when you are mentally healthy and stable you can deal with these emotions much efficiently.

I used to get so anxious before. Negative thoughts used to haunt me in minutes. And I’m a cry baby. My tears start rolling in a fraction of second, in fact sometimes  I have no idea why I’m crying. But yes that was me. And somewhere in the corner of my heart I was guilty of being that way. I used to be like, why do I cry or care so much for unnecessary things? But since I have started taking care of my mental health, my ability to handle such situations has improved. Now if I care about something, or feel tensed I no more keep thinking about it for hours. Instead, I have come out with a solution. I have a diary where I write my thoughts, my problems or whatever that’s bothering me and everything related to it. Like maybe the positive aspects or negative aspects, advantages, disadvantages and so on. And then I ask myself is it worth bothering if not then leave it. If yes then what is the solution. I find a solution, decide to work on it and end the topic. It may seem childish but trust me it works wonders for me. In fact, it also helps me make decisions. I mean if you are confused about something note down the pros and cons rather than playing a slideshow in your brains. You will have everything in front of your eyes and will help you to come to a decision quickly. 

The fact is, it’s not too difficult to take care of your physical or mental health. I mean we spend so many hours surfing Instagram, Facebook or anything on the internet. So why not surf content that would help you understand how to take care of yourself? If you need you can take medical help. Considering today’s lifestyle it’s very important to do routine medical checkups which many of us do not even consider. But do we forget to do our internet or wifi recharge? Many of us do not follow small things which are been taught to us since childhood like for eg: drinking a lot of water. I was one from that community, but since the time I have inculcated the habit of drinking water trust me,it worked wonders. You feel so fresh and energetic just by drinking an appropriate amount of water. Some people drink water when they feel thirsty which can even be like once or twice a day that too after having meals which is more or less equivalent to skipping water but can we skip a day without surfing our phones? Not at all. So we are being so unfair towards our body.

As for me, I make sure that I eat healthy, follow healthy practices, exercise, meditate and do things that I enjoy doing like reading a book, gardening, watching movies, painting etc. That feeling of peace after doing something that makes you happy, eventually develops a good mental state. Well, one thing I need to overcome is my habit of sleeping late. I believe I will soon inculcate that too, but I am not guilty of it because I love nights. My mind becomes most active in the moonlight. Now that I am writing this blog it’s 2:00am in the morning. But early to bed and early to rise is important.

Every person has problems, but it is you who decide whether to concentrate on the problems in life and cry over it or take the other way. Make your priority list, keep yourself at the first position, work effectively towards becoming physically and mentally healthy. Then face the world and all those unending problems bravely and work on finding solutions rather than sulking. No one in the whole universe can help you until and unless you decide to help yourself and build a better tomorrow for yourself. And this applies to every human being irrespective of their gender, caste, location etc.

The reason I am writing this blog is I was too irresponsible towards my body but it’s better late than never. I understood where I went wrong and worked on it constantly for months now. And here I am enjoying the fruits of the seeds of healthiness that I sowed. And it’s not an overnight miracle process; it took me months to see the transformation within myself. Slowly I started realizing that my way of handling things or reacting towards situations have changed. I eventually felt happy, peaceful and blessed. It’s like winning a war against all the unhealthy habits and lifestyle followed for so many years. That feeling is not something to be penned down, it’s meant to be felt.

There’s nothing much more important in your whole life than your body. No problems, no person, nothing. How can you take care of your loved ones if you yourself are not in a healthy position? Even the airline announcement says wear your oxygen mask before helping others.

Whatever we do in our lives we do it for ourselves or our families. If you believe you are responsible towards your family then behave accordingly. They need your existence and your body is the ultimate tool of your existence. I request all my readers to please consider physical and mental health as top priorities and be healthy. Find out what’s peace for you. It may be dancing, cooking, reading etc. It can be anything and it’s you who need to find it out. Once your mind is at peace and your body is health eventually you will discover what works for you when you are tensed. Explore your own self.

    The way your write literally convince us to start thinking about our health and now it’s high time to that we should adopt healthy lifestyle.
